[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Olbernhau in the Erz Mountains is not only famous for its wooden nutcrackers, but also attracted fame of an unwelcome kind during the floods of August 2002. The River Fl\u00f6ha burst its banks and the ensuing flood caused damage totalling about \u20ac40 million in the little town.<\/p>\n

Uninterrupted flood defences over a distance of 3 km, and designed for a 50-year return flood, are intended to protect Olbernhau from future flood disasters.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_section full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1662111770630{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_row][vc_column]\n\n\n
